Marriage License Requirements
Both applicants must appear in person at the Blaine License Center or the main Anoka County Government Center with a valid government-issued photo ID. A driver's license, passport, or state ID card works. You must provide your Social Security number at the time of application. Under Minnesota Statute 517.08, both parties must be at least 18 years old.
If you were previously married, bring a certified copy of the divorce decree or a death certificate proving the prior marriage ended. Anoka County will not issue a license without this documentation. Bring certified copies, not photocopies, to avoid delays.
The license is valid for six months anywhere in Minnesota. There is no waiting period. Under Minnesota Statute 517.10, the officiant must return the completed license to Anoka County within five days of the ceremony.
Blaine Marriage License Fees
Anoka County charges $125 for a standard marriage license. If both applicants complete an approved 12-hour premarital education course, the fee is $50. Proof of the class must be submitted at the time of application. Credit and debit cards are accepted at the Blaine location with a 2.60% processing fee. Cash and checks also work.
Certified copies of marriage records cost $9 per copy. You can request copies when you pick up the license or order them later by calling Anoka County at 763-323-5777 or visiting the Blaine office or the main Government Center in Anoka.
Note: Confirm current fees before your visit, as amounts can change.
